Join us as we welcome Jenny Fleiss, Co-Founder & Board Member of Rent the Runway, Entrepreneur and Venture Partner at Volition Capital, to Boston College.

Established in 2015, the CWBC Colloquium hosts exceptional thought leaders to consider contemporary issues through the lens of women’s leadership. The Colloquium is made possible by the Council for Women of Boston College and the Institute for the Liberal Arts. 

Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. Doors open at 5:00 p.m.

Jenny Fleiss

Jenny Fleiss is an entrepreneur and intrapreneur, founding two scaled digitally native businesses from scratch: Rent the Runway and Jetblack. She is a Venture Partner at Volition Capital.

Jetblack was the first portfolio company within Walmart’s technology incubator, disrupting traditional ecommerce with a personal shopping service over text message and voice. Previously, Jenny co-founded Rent the Runway, a business that has transformed the retail industry by making designer clothing rentals a convenient and accessible luxury experience for millions of women. During her time at Rent the Runway, Jenny wore many different hats, serving as President, Head of Logistics, and Head of Business Development. Jenny remains a Rent the Runway board member and adviser, is a board member of Shutterfly and Party City, and serves as an adviser to and investor in various businesses, many with female founders. She is the Co-founder of the RTR Foundation and a guest lecturer at various universities and professional forums.

Jenny has been honored with numerous recognitions including Inc. Magazine’s “30 Under 30”; Fortune Magazine’s “40 Under 40” and “Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs”; and Fast Company’s “Most Influential Women in Technology.”

She earned her MBA from Harvard Business School and graduated Cum Laude from Yale University. She currently resides in New York City with her husband and three children.

Moderator: Kristie Dickinson, Adjunct Professor of Design Thinking & Entrepreneur in Residence at Boston College

Kristie is the founder and Adjunct Professor of the first-ever Design Thinking course in the Carroll School of Management, which teaches creative problem-solving skills using the powers of empathy, prototyping, inclusive design, and storytelling. She also leads popular workshops like “How to Land the Job of Your Dreams” and “Setting Better Boundaries at Work” through the Shea Center for Entrepreneurship.

Before coming back to her alma mater, Kristie worked on the Marketing team at Apple in Cupertino, CA, where she led third-party Apple Watch app efforts for Worldwide Developer Relations. During her tenure, she helped to unify Apple Watch app strategy internally, and also led workshops and consulted for over 150 startups and Fortune Global 500 companies on product strategy and UI/UX design.

This fall, Kristie will be launching an entrepreneurial venture alongside her beloved teaching duties at BC. Surprise & Delight Studios™️, a new kind of experience design consulting firm, will specialize in transforming corporate events, trainings, and private gatherings into unforgettable experiences.
