Josh Seim is broadly interested in the governance of poverty and suffering, and this has led him into the sociologies of medicine, punishment, labor, and more. His research has appeared in American Sociological Review, Sociological Methods and Research, Social Science and Medicine, Punishment and Society, Journal of Contemporary Ethnography, and other outlets. His first book, Bandage, Sort, and Hustle: Ambulance Crews on the Front Lines of Urban Suffering, was released in 2020 by University of California Press.
