Entrepreneurs for Social Impact
About
ESI is Boston College's hub for social entrepreneurship, where students combine business innovation with social purpose. Through hands-on projects and skill-building workshops, our members learn to identify societal problems and craft entrepreneurial solutions that make a difference. The club is divided into four specialized teams, each addressing a critical social issue. The 2025–2026 teams are Financial Literacy, Affordable Housing, Healthcare, and Environmental Policy.
Teams engage directly with their focus areas through volunteer work, hosting expert speakers from their fields, and competing in case competitions, with the Hult Prize as their flagship event. ESI partners with organizations and businesses pursuing equity and justice in Greater Boston and beyond. Through these partnerships, they help BC students discover how any career path can create social impact and connect them with meaningful ways to use their skills for causes they care about. At ESI, it's all about proving that the next generation of business leaders does not have to choose between social impact and business success; they can achieve both.
Programming
ESI hosts a variety of events throughout the semester centered on its four key focus areas. These events include interactive teaching sessions and speaker events featuring distinguished BC alumni working in relevant organizations and industries. For the 2025–2026 academic year, ESI’s focus areas are financial literacy, affordable housing, healthcare, and environmental policy.
In addition to these programs, ESI’s flagship event each academic year is the Hult Prize, which encourages students to participate in the Hult Case Competition. This internationally recognized competition challenges students to develop innovative solutions with meaningful social impact.
