Elena Richards, chief diversity equity & inclusion officer at KPMG US, spoke with Fortune's Amber Burton and Paolo Confino on the importance of ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are woven into return-to-office discussions. Her insights are featured in the article, Why your chief diversity officer needs to be a part of the return-to-office discussion.

TIAA CEO, Thasunda Brown Duckett, was recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of 2022's 50 Most Powerful Women. Brown Duckett is also one of only two Black female CEOs in the Fortune 500.

On National Coming Out Day, Zebra shared this origin story and interview featuring vice president, Mike Stent, who helped launch the Zebra Equality Alliance (ZEAL) LGBTQ+ inclusion network.

State Street's Marcia Rothschild, senior vice president, head of Latin America and the Caribbean, wrote a piece on Hispanic Heritage Month and the company's theme, Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation. "That’s a concept that resonates strongly with me, because it embodies the work we’re doing at State Street to build a stronger, more inclusive company," Rothschild wrote.

PNC Bank will provide access to tuition-free education and related career services for its employees through a just-announced partnership with Guild, an online education and upskilling platform for employers. PNC’s 62,000 employees will be able to enroll in online degree programs with fully-funded tuition in fields such as accounting, business administration, cyber security, information technology , business analytics, and software development , as well as in individual courses and certificate programs in areas such as fintech, digital marketing, and people business leadership. Over 400 programs in more than 20 subject areas will be included, according to the PNC website describing the benefits. “As a talent-focused company, we’re committed to investing in education and skills training that eliminates barriers and helps advance career growth. This new collaboration with Guild is part of PNC’s broader effort to attract top talent while helping employees realize their potential and allowing PNC to better meet the needs of our businesses and customers,” said Megan Schulenburg, senior director of learning and development for PNC.

Samsung employees participated in the company's twelfth annual Samsung Gives Day of Service. Participants had over 2,000 available opportunities for service aligned with Samsung’s commitments to education, sustainability, or diversity, equity and inclusion. “At Samsung, we are dedicated to empowering our employees and driving positive change in communities nationwide," said Michelle Crossan-Matos, chief marketing, citizenship & communications officer.

Nestle SA, will invest more than $1 billion by 2030 to encourage farmers supplying its Nescafe brand to employ more sustainable farming methods as climate change and extreme weather threaten crops. Nestle will offer training about the best planting techniques as well as cash incentives to motivate farmers to take actions, such as planting cover crops to protect the soil.  “We will not have viable coffee farms in 20 or 30 years if we don’t take action now,” said David Rennie, head of Nestle’s coffee business. 

T. Rowe Price has partnered with Climate Vault to neutralize the emissions accumulated by the company’s associates’ business travel. Climate Vault is a nonprofit organization that will purchase and “vault” carbon allowances from government-regulated “cap and trade” compliance markets on behalf of T. Rowe Price. The organization then converts the value of the vaulted allowances into funds for innovative carbon dioxide removal technology.

The Liberty Mutual Foundation recently awarded a $1 million grant  to The Children’s Investment Fund. The grant will help form the Inclusive Futures Fund, which is aimed at ensuring that children of all abilities may access high quality early education. Recipients of the grant include Nurtury Early Education, East Boston Social Centers, Crispus Attucks Children’s Center, Inc., The Dimock Center, and Paige Academy.

More of our members continue to share disaster relief efforts in the wake of hurricanes Ian and Fiona. FedEx is working with nonprofit Direct Relief to deliver medical aid to a number of health facilities across Florida; Point32Health is matching and doubling contributions, up to $50,000, for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico; AgFirst, CoBank, Farm Credit Bank of Texas, and Farmer Mac joined together to provide $325,000 in relief aid for those hard hit by Hurricane Fiona and Hurricane Ian. Funds will be donated to the American Red Cross.

Target will be the convening sponsor at the 2023 International Corporate Citizenship Conference, happening April 30-May 2, 2023, in Target's hometown, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
