Innovative research and teaching excellence require support, including institutional aid and campus resources. That’s why Boston College offers a diverse set of awards and grants for faculty members in all stages of their careers, during every semester, and across academic interests.

Research
The Ignite Program provides rapid access to pilot funds and helps researchers compete for private, foundational, state, federal, and international funding.
The Research Across Departments and Schools program aids faculty from across Boston College in interdisciplinary research projects that address today’s most pressing issues.
Annual Research Incentive Grants provide merit-based funding for research initiated during the summer break.
Research Expense Grants facilitate successful faculty research by helping to defray scholarly research expenses.
The Institute for the Liberal Arts offers major and minor grants that help fund innovative projects and other initiatives that improve education or scholarship in the liberal arts.
The Schiller Institute offers two faculty seed grant programs. This first supports collaborative research projects and creative activities across disciplines in the Schiller Institute’s principal research focus areas of energy, the natural environment, and health. The second program supports faculty conducting collaborative work with community partners in Boston and around the world.
Sabbaticals
Sabbatical Fellowships support faculty members focusing on research and publication.
Teaching, Advising, and Mentoring
Annual Teaching, Advising, and Mentoring Grants fund faculty members’ and teams’ innovative approaches to teaching, advising, and mentorship.
Teaching, Advising and Mentoring Expense Grants provide up to $2,000 for expenses that improve the experiences of Boston College students.
Technology
Academic Technology Innovation Grants provide startup funding for original teaching and research technologies or approaches.
