Profile

I study educational change as it is enacted in individual schools, across school systems, and in new online digital learning environments as well. Currently, I am working with the International Movement Towards Educational Change (IMTEC) in Oslo, Norway, and the Robert Bosch Foundation in Berlin, Germany, to support cross-cultural learning and exchange across all levels of our school systems.

My three most recent books are  "Five Paths of Student Engagement: Blazing New Trails to Learning and Success" (Solution Tree), "Well-being in Schools: Three Forces for Uplifting Your Students in Volatile Times" (ASCD), and "The Age of Identity:  Who Do Our Kids Think They Are ... And How Do We Help Them Belong?" (Corwin). All three of these books are co-authored with my long-time friend and collaborator, Andy Hargreaves, and are the result of studies we conducted in Canada and the US over many years.
