At the Lynch School, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our commitment to the common good and the Jesuit tradition of service empowers students to engage with diverse communities both locally and globally. Through service learning, global field placements, and community partnerships, our students deepen their understanding of justice, equity, and transformative education.
Our work at the Lynch School extends far beyond Boston into the global community.
Working alongside so many people at the Lynch School who have dedicated their careers to education, I realize now—more than ever—that I have a responsibility to give back.
Lynch School students can take advantage of incredible opportunities to serve the global community—like a spring break trip to Iceland. We sent our undergraduate students abroad to participate in community service, doing everything from sorting clothing donations, to running a children’s camp, serving meals, or providing free workshops in arts and sports.
These trips offer students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore, serve, and contribute to creating a more just and sustainable world. Students have a chance to examine themselves and the world, grow talents, skills, and imagination, and act for justice in community with others.
Students don't have to go far to give back—BC offers opportunities for community service in our own backyard.
The Volunteer and Service Learning Center (VSLC) is the primary portal for all service activity offered at Boston College, with a strong commitment to the Greater Boston community. VSLC supports the education and formation of students by promoting conscientious service in the context of Catholic social teaching and contemporary Jesuit education.
